W Plan

W Plan: A term introduced by Honeywell, but now used universally to refer to a domestic heating system consisting of a boiler, boiler pump, and a linked radiator circuit and cylinder circuit. In a W plan system the radiator and cylinder circuits are controlled by a two channel time clock, a cylinder thermostat, an optional room thermostat and a three port zone valve. The three port valve is of the diverter type, having two electrical connections plus Earth.
