Boiler - Types

The most likely heat source for heating and domestic hot water systems. Boilers vary in terms of size, fuel and configuration, but in general can be split into three classifications:

Combination (Combi) Boiler - An all-in-one boiler that includes the boiler pump and expansion vessel, it eliminates the need for storage of DHW which can be very useful in smaller properties as a hot water cylinder is not required.

System Boiler – Designed to be used with a hot water cylinder, a system boiler has the boiler pump and expansion vessel built in.

Conventional – Requires a hot water cylinder and does not include any additional components built in.

Gas, LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas) and oil are typical fuels.
