Screed

A floating screed (i.e. screed laid over a layer of insulation) with the underfloor tubes set in it forms the most popular floor construction used in underfloor heating. For example the SC10 floor construction.

A cement based screed (4 parts sand to 1 part cement) screed at a minimum depth of 65mm provides an excellent medium for underfloor heating.

Alternatively a liquid, pumped screed can be used allowing a reduced depth of 50mm and an increase in UFH performance.

Minimum depths are required for structural integrity, but the thicker the screed the longer the response time of the heating.
