Diverter Valve

Used in W-Plan systems, the diverter valve is a 3-port valve. It is sprung to the domestic water port, such that if the domestic water is calling for heat it will get priority over the heat. Only once the domestic water is satisfied will the radiator system receive heat.

In a W-plan system the underfloor heating takeoff must be plumbed before the diverter valve, and a 2-port blocker valve should be fitted after the underfloor heating takeoff, and before the diverter valve. This enables the underfloor heating to operate on its own, if neither the radiator circuit or the domestic hot water require heat.

The underfloor heating manifold is fully valved, so there is no need for a 2-port zone valve between the boiler and manifold.
