National Trust Installs Nu-Heat |
|
|
By installing it in their new visitor centre at the Llanchaeron Estate in Clwyd, Wales, the National Trust has become the latest convert to the benefits of underfloor heating.
Because it has a constant, even heat with less variation in humidity levels, underfloor heating creates a kinder atmosphere for furniture and textiles, antique or modern. It also allows room layouts to be designed as you want them, without having to worry about the damage to furniture associated with radiators.
Although Nu-Heat specialise in domestic heating we are sometimes asked to use our expertise designing systems for commercial clients. With no sharp corners or very hot surfaces, underfloor heating is an ideal and safe choice for premises open to the public. The lack of radiators allows maximum use of wall space for display of goods or information and staff can enjoy a comfortable working environment. The cost of the heating system may be far outweighed by the amount of retail or office space it frees up.
Nu-Heat's approach to design is well suited to care and nursing homes, day nurseries, schools and small shops and offices - in fact any space divided into small to medium-sized rooms. We do not cater for large open spaces such as factories or supermarkets, leaving that to others.
Having said that, underfloor heating concentrates the warmth where it is of most use - in the lower part of the room, therefore any building with high ceilings, for example barn or commercial conversions, will also benefit as the heating will work efficiently keeping costs down.
