Name: Steve & Anna Munday Project Type: Self-Build Size: 388m² Floor coverings: Carpet, tile & timber Floors: Screed Zones: 12
Second time self-builders Steve and Anna Munday have created a large family home influenced by the Arts & Crafts movement, integrating Nu-Heat underfloor heating. The project involved the demolition of an existing property, replacing it with a traditional-style new build.
“It was our second self-build project and even though we had previous experience, completing the project was still hard work. I would work all night and then labour in the day to maintain the project’s momentum.”
“As with our previous build, we decided to incorporate high quality materials. We had experienced underfloor heating in our last project and were keen to include it again. We looked for a supplier and this is where we first came across Nu-Heat.”
“Our motivation for installing Nu-Heat underfloor heating was based on their ability to offer complete controllability over how we heated our home. Nu-Heat’s zoning technique means that we are able to select which rooms are heated. Rooms that are less frequently used have the ability to run at a set back temperature, which allows us to heat our home far more efficiently and intelligently.”
“Another benefit of underfloor heating is the way it uses a large surface area (the floor) to heat the room. Radiators have a concentrated heat which can be stuffy and uncomfortable. Using the whole floor enables a much gentler kind of warmth to heat the home, which we definitely prefer.”
“Living with underfloor heating also helps create a cleaner environment for the home. There appears to be far less dust compared with radiators. Underfloor heating is also a lot neater as the heating is concealed under the floor.”
“We have used Nu-Heat underfloor heating in two self-build projects and have been impressed with Nu-Heat’s service levels in both instances. This high standard of customer care has led us to enquire about using Nu-Heat in our third self-build project.”
