Nu-Heat warm water underfloor heating was installed in an individually designed house, recently judged winner of the South West Regional New Homes Category 1 by the Federation of Master Builders. The three-bedroom home was also short listed for the national finals of the Awards for Excellence.

The full-house installation was carried out by Andrew Proctor’s building firm, with the help of their plumbers, who had not installed a Nu-Heat system before.

Commenting on the installation, Andrew Proctor said: “When the architects specified the Nu-Heat system we thought it might be a bit of a challenge particularly with the exposed joists on the first floor. In the event we found everything went extremely smoothly. My advice to any first time installer is to follow Nu-Heat’s instructions, which are very clear and easy to understand, and don’t be afraid to ask questions.”

“Nu-Heat is very approachable and there is always technical assistance when you need it. Another tip would be not to cut corners and always make sure the screed floor thickness is kept to manufacturer’s instructions. We will certainly be using Nu-Heat in future projects”.

In this particular installation a variety of floor coverings were used including timber, stone and clay tiles over a floor area of 18m x 7.5m. Nu-Heat underfloor heating is suitable for use with virtually any type of floor covering and floor construction.

Owners of the property, Wanda and Andy Blake, who nominated AJ Proctor for the Master Builder Award, are obviously delighted with their new home and have reported that the Nu-Heat underfloor heating is proving very economical to run and is highly efficient, as well as giving a very comfortable overall level of heating with no cold spots.
