One of the more unusual projects Nu-Heat has been installed in - a former nuclear bunker, now called 'The Glass House'.
The nuclear bunker was built in 1951 by the MOD as a regional control centre and nuclear attack shelter for high ranking government officials. A grey building with no windows and 1.5m thick reinforced concrete walls doesn't sound very inspirational - but with great vision Richard Clarke of Piermont Homes saw something different. Three years after viewing the bunker for the first time it has now been transformed into a spectacular, ultra-contemporary home with a £3M price tag.
The interior designer wanted the emphasis to be on natural flooring, which fitted perfectly with Nu-Heat underfloor systems. Black basalt imported from China, Jerusalem and Indian limestone, gold Donegal quartzite and mosaic tiles from Spain are just some of the floor finishes offering a myriad of colour and texture and all at the perfect temperature.
The bunker is now called the Glass House because of its delightful high-pitched glass roof and this unique building is definitely not destined to be on the market for long.
