The new campaign entitled The Nu-Heat Centres of Excellence, is a long-term sponsorship program aimed at supporting courses in energy efficiency and environmental construction.
Adrian Troop, Sales and Marketing Director for Nu-Heat, explains more about their latest venture, what the project entails, how their initiative strives to improve the training facilities available to students across the UK and how this investment will directly benefit industry.
“Recent surveys carried out by independent organisations such as The Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) state a staggering 87% of new homebuyers wish to live in environmentally friendly homes. We believe it to be the responsibility of large companies, manufacturers and suppliers to aid the transition and move towards a more sustainable future. As one of the leading suppliers of domestic warm water underfloor heating we have a role to play in helping the construction and heating industry make this change and view partnerships with training colleges as the most productive and beneficial route to helping both sectors grow,” says Troop.
“The recent changes to Part L of the Building Regulations are another key driver and supporting education and training will ensure those in education get to grips with new, more efficient technology.” Adrian continued.
Earlier this year Nu-Heat made the decision to embark on a long-term national sponsorship program and have established links in Buckinghamshire, Devon, the East Midlands and Yorkshire and hope to extend the scheme to more partnership colleges over the coming months and years.
Colleges signing up to the program can benefit from instruction equipment, comprehensive and bespoke tutor training, and a copy of Nu-Heat’s industry leading DVD “The No-Nonsense Guide to Installing Underfloor Heating”. In addition to this, the underfloor heating company has made the most of its extensive on-line facilities by beginning development of a dedicated student area, whereby trainees will be able to log-on and find out everything they need to know about installing and integrating warm water underfloor heating systems.
Another institution to have recently signed up to The Nu-Heat Centres of Excellence scheme is Devon & Exeter Construction Training College in Exeter. Simon Friend, Head of Construction for the college, comments: “To have support and backing from Nu-Heat is fantastic as it means we are able to offer practical training to our students. Without their support we would really struggle to give students the opportunity to get hands-on experience and the guidance Nu-Heat has given our tutors is invaluable.”
“Efficient home heating is certainly something plumbers of the future are going to have to understand, which is why it is so great our students are being given the opportunity to embrace this new technology early on in their development. The on-line Student Centre is another useful tool as it can be used both in lectures and by students at home and we are really pleased to be part of this pioneering project.”
