The Green Power Forum event in October 2009 Adrian Troop, Sales and Marketing Director of Nu-Heat, a specialist low-carbon design and supply heating firm, has been appointed as a Board member of the Green Power Forum (GPF) – a major green energy conference.
The Forum, which is launching its first national conference at the BT Convention Centre on Liverpool’s waterfront on October 15, has approached key industry figures in a bid to offer GPF delegates and associates current information, knowledge and expertise on relevant issues concerning the integration of renewable technologies into private and public sector building.
The Green Power Forum is an independent event comprising energy suppliers, renewable energy manufacturers, energy support agencies and business groups and the conference contributes towards six hours of Continual Professional Development (CPD) – one sixth of the annual training requirement.
Mark McManus, Chairperson of GPF and Managing Director of Stiebel Eltron UK (a manufacturer of heat pump technology), comments on the forthcoming event and Nu-Heat’s involvement.
The Green Power Forum
The conference will focus on heat pump technology and how it can dramatically reduce carbon emissions in homes and businesses and the event is targeted at professionals responsible for providing energy efficient solutions – architects, facilities managers, developers, local authorities and housing associations.
Representatives from every step of the supply chain are involved and the GPF will be hosted by leading industry experts, with sessions including:
- The law – current and future legislation. This session, hosted by a Government expert, will examine regulations and how renewable energy targets will affect your organisation and business.
- The starting point – how to make your building more energy efficient through the integration of renewable energy technology.
- The cost – the implications of ‘going green’, including information on the financial incentives available. This session offers detailed analysis on the huge range of grants and tax breaks offered – how they work and who is eligible.
- The products – advice on green energy systems, including how they work and the installation process. This will include interesting case studies.
Speakers will include Hergen Haye from the Department of Energy and Climate Change, Kelly Butler of British Electrotechnical and Allied Manufacturers Association (BEAMA).
Sharing expertise
Mark McManus, Chairperson of the Green Power Forum and Managing Director of heat pump manufacturer, Stiebel Eltron UK, says:
‘With heating being responsible for more than half of the UK’s energy use, both the public and private sector are under enormous pressure to install environmentally friendly forms of heating. Technologies such as heat pumps have a massive role to play in providing that alternative – so it is vital that experienced renewable design and supply organisations, such as Nu-Heat, are involved in events such as this – they deal with the practical application of these technologies on a daily basis.’
‘With the higher levels of the Code for Sustainable Homes there is a greater need for renewable technologies to satisfy energy efficiency requirements. Specification standards for new-build homes have significantly increased in recent years, allowing renewable technologies such as heat pumps and solar panels together with underfloor heating to make a positive impact on highly insulated properties.’
Having delivered low-carbon home and heating solutions to public and private house builders for a number of years, Nu-Heat has first-hand experience of the challenges facing the industry. This event provides a platform for discussion on cost-effective, realistic and achievable implementation strategies – topics Nu-Heat will cover in a case study session on the day.
Nu-Heat will also be exhibiting at the show and taking part in the ‘drop in’ centre, giving delegates the opportunity to discuss solutions to any current or future projects.
Tickets are priced at £90, with discounts available for RIBA members. For further details, please visit www.greenpowerforum.org.uk or www.nu-heat.co.uk. Alternatively, call 0151 666 5777.
