Code for sustainable homes

With the introduction of The Code for Sustainable Homes carbon emission values of new homes must be greatly reduced. Levels 3, 4 and 5 of the Code generally require some form of renewable technologies to satisfy energy requirements.

Specification standards for new-build homes have greatly increased in recent years allowing renewable technologies such as heat pumps and solar panels together with underfloor heating to achieve optimum performance and, therefore, contribute significantly to energy reduction.

Nu-Heat can advise housebuilders, RSLs and M&E consultants on the best strategy for gaining the relevant level of the Code using the most appropriate combination of technologies.

Units such as heat pumps are at their most efficient when supplying water at a temperature between 35˚C and 45˚C, exactly what is needed for UFH, but far lower than is needed for traditional radiators that operate at temperatures up to 75˚C.

Ground source, air source and exhaust air heat pumps and solar thermal panels are all available from Nu-Heat and are supplied with comprehensive ‘docking drawings’ that clearly illustrate how each element fits into the system.

Specifying an integrated system from Nu-Heat means all the elements will be designed to work together allowing each technology to work efficiently, providing optimum performance. There will be one point of contact and a single source of responsibility. Nu-Heat guarantees not just the individual products but the system design as well.

Nu-Heat’s rainwater harvesting systems can also contribute significantly to gaining higher levels of the Code.
