Underfloor heating can be used with any heat source including standard gas and oil boilers, range cookers and renewable technologies such as ground and air source heat pumps.
Hot water delivered to the underfloor heating manifold from the heat source is blended until the correct temperature is reached. In most boiler-fed systems this will be between 40˚C and 55˚C but in a heat pump system can be as low as 30˚C, which can dramatically increase the efficiency of the heat pump. Nu-Heat will always take into account the heat source when designing a system and specify the exact flow temperature needed for each room to maintain comfort levels.
Integrating renewables
Underfloor heating is the perfect partner for low temperature heat sources such as heat pumps as it allows the technology to perform at maximum efficiency. When our underfloor heating is linked to a heat pump and/or solar thermal system also supplied by Nu-Heat all necessary mechanical and electrical ‘docking’ drawings (clickable drawings) will be supplied to illustrate exactly how the various components should be fitted and then linked to each other. There are many possible configurations that may include underfloor heating with a heat pump, solar, storage and/or preheat cylinder and one of several control options. We will also provide a docking drawing illustrating how a conventional gas or oil boiler can be added to the configuration (known as a bivalent system).
Because Nu-Heat supplies all of these technologies with a complete set of fittings necessary to complete the installation, you can be sure they will work efficiently together.
