Why choose FoilBatten®?
FoilBatten® is an underfloor heating panel for timber suspended floors, offering a zero height build up and a quick, dry installation.
The single-piece panel is made from extruded polystyrene (XPS) insulation with aluminium heat diffuser pre- bonded to the surface making it easier to trim than rigid plates as well as removing the clicking and creaking that comes from plates when they warm-up. The panel uses 16mm pipe at 200mm centres.
The panels fit neatly in the batten space. Unlike aluminium diffusers, the top of the batten is free from fixings. The panels ensure good contact with the floor removing the possibility of sagging plates and poor heat output.

Installing FoilBatten®
FoilBatten® has been developed for dry, quick installation between timber battens.
Step 1. Prepare the battens by creating notches for pipe to pass between bays, insulating with mineral wool.
Step 2. With the FoilBatten® panels cut to size, fit the panels into the space, along each batten bay, starting at the end of the notch. FoilBatten® panels are non-structural and form no part of the floor deck structural strength, so working supports must be used.
Step 3. Starting from the room furthest from the manifold, lay the pipe following your bespoke design drawings. Continue until there is just enough tube remaining to return to the manifold.
Step 4. Once the correct lengths of tube are laid, trim excess coil length and connect to the manifold as described in your Nu-Heat Installation Manual. You can then fill and pressure test the system.
