Insulation requirements

The importance of insulation

The purpose of insulation in the floor of any building is to reduce downward heat losses, whether it has underfloor heating or not. New buildings must comply with Building Regulations Part L, which specify the precise U-values which must be achieved. For more information on Building Regulations click here.

Please be aware that buildings approved prior to April 2002 may have a lower specification which may affect the suitablility of using any underfloor heating system unless the insulation is brought up to current regulations. Nu-Heat use the 'elemental method' when calculating heat losses of a building.

Current building regulations specify a level of insulation which is perfectly acceptable for underfloor heating, no additional insulation will be required. Nu-Heat does not supply insulation; it is better sourced locally.
