Nick Pullen is the Director of a property development company which has just completed the first apartment in their 15-unit development. The project is a complete redevelopment of a former hotel, turning the run down property into luxury apartments.
Nick talks to Nu-Heat about his experiences working with Nu-Heat underfloor heating.
“We began the renovation of a rundown hotel in the autumn of 2004. When we acquired the property, there were eggs in the fridge, towels on the beds and mini chocolates in the hotel bedrooms. We saw great potential in turning it from a rundown business and dilapidated property into stunning luxury apartments. We wanted to keep the character of the property, built in around 1880, taking time to painstakingly renovate the internal structure of the building to an extremely high standard.”
“We wanted to make sure the way in which the apartments functioned was sophisticated and well thought out. As I have installed underfloor heating in my home and lived with it for over a year, I was keen to use it for the development.”
“Building Regulations now state a high level of insulation and this is an ideal scenario for underfloor heating as it works best when a property is well insulated. Admittedly, underfloor heating is more expensive than fitting radiators, however we wanted the best for the development and for the people that would be living in the apartments. I am sure that the future buyers will love underfloor heating as much as I do. It is a much nicer heat.”
