At what point will I need professional trades for my UFH installation?
You’ll need qualified professionals for specific technical elements: qualified plumber and electrician for boiler/heat pump connections and system wiring, professional screeding company for large areas requiring pumped screed, and specialists for structural systems (like Nu-Deck).

How much maintenance does underfloor heating need?
Very little! All Nu-Heat systems are sealed, pressurized systems, making them extremely reliable provided they’re properly pressure tested before flooring installation.
Since 2022, BS 7593 requires annual maintenance as part of regular heat pump or boiler servicing, including checking inhibitor levels, water quality, and cleaning system filters. Our pipework comes with a comprehensive 50-year warranty for complete peace of mind.

How easy is it to install underfloor heating?
It’s more straightforward than you might think, but can involve some complexity. Our systems come with everything pre-cut and detailed layouts, so the pipework installation is manageable for most DIYers. However, you’ll need professional trades for electrical connections and any structural work. Your account manager will explain exactly what’s involved for your project.
How long does it take to install underfloor heating?
Installation time varies by project scope. Laying pipes typically takes just a few days for a 3-4 bedroom new build, though wiring and commissioning depend on trade availability. If installing pipework in screed, factor in several months of drying time before laying final flooring.
How much does it cost to install underfloor heating?
The cost of the installation is dependent on a variety of factors, including whether it’s a refurbishment project or a new build, the type of floor construction and the type of system.
Although UFH can be more expensive to install underfloor heating than radiators, because underfloor heating is a low-temperature system, it’s a lot cheaper to run.
How much insulation do I need?
Underfloor heating is a low-temperature system so you will certainly benefit from ensuring that the whole envelope of the building is insulated. This includes the floor because if you have a void beneath the warm water pipes then up to 45% of the system’s heat output could be lost. Conversely, if your floor construction is concrete to the ground, then the heat loss is reduced to around 6%.
